Healthy Water

I attended Fariha Róisín’s “Writing and Dreaming for Revolution” session today and the group was prompted to reflect on and write about the following:

What are you creating in healthy soil and healthy water? What are you watering and feeding that will grow into a powerful revolutionary source for the world?

here’s what came up for me in the 20 minutes:

Healthy Water

In healthy water, I am a simple, small, solitary droplet. Pure, tender, sparkling, supple, buoyant.

I fall into our collective, a pond brimming with ideas, emotions, words, joys, sorrows, notions, eager energy.

As I fall into our pond, a rippling tide emerges. One formed by my own tears - happy, sad, sometimes, oftentimes at the same time. Simultaneous joy, hope, gratitude, nourishment, and rage, sorrow, grief, betrayal, and gaping wounds.

The rippling tide formed from my superpower tenderness and sensitivity - the very characteristics that were once condensed so tight, along with my spirit. Hidden out of fear and shame. Condensed into a small, shadowed space.

Only to resurface when I was healed enough to let them know that they’re safe now. Safe to be free, to be present, to be seen, heard, and felt. To be touched and shared.

These rippling tides carrying unconditional love of my grandmother and heartbreak of my mother. Emboldening me to be true. To live in alignment with my own values because I’ve seen and known betrayal.

These rippling tides growing, expanding my self-compassion, love, acceptance, tenderness, and trust outward. Touching each droplet around me.

Caressing and embracing my neighboring droplets. Nourishing, nurturing, nudging. All of us tenderly held by the love that connects us - to ourselves and each other.

Our interconnectedness seen and solidified. Felt and tied by these rippling tides.

The same rippling tides born from the tears of this simple, small, solitary droplet. Pure, tender, sparkling, supple, buoyant.

Present in this healthy water.
